Pls Help me on this

I have installed the websphere 6 and oracle 10 in same machine. When i tried to connect to the oracle DB as local host it works. But when i use the IP, it doesnt connect. I can connect to the DB through TOAD. but my applcation doesnt connect to it. Can anybody help me on this???
