Default auto match text in dropdownlist

hy..

In a dropdownlist whenever we press any key, the corresponding item comes up.
that is if 'r' is pressed, then item starting with alphabet 'r' comes up .
Is there any way in which I can make an item come up by typing it's spelling .
example, if I have an item 'radio' and an item 'rod' then, if I press 'r' then selection focus will be on radio. But if I want 'rod' then I could do so by first pressing 'r' and then at the next instant 'o' and the selection focus moves to 'rod'.

any suggestions ???

thx...
