  I am retrieving data from database and displaying as a report.
This is employee details. It has one field called status whose values may be(VA - Vaccation, RS - Resigned, FC - Finished Contract, RC - Re-new Contract). In the report I want to show only the shortcuts. When the mouse focus over that it should show full description for that shortcut. How can I do this?

can anybody give an idea?

Is the whole string in one field? I would use two myself. One for the accroynym and one for the longer name. Anyhow, if they are in one here is one way to do it:

Note: this code is dependent on:
> the string always having a two letter accronym
> the first letter of the full name being the fifth character (the count starts from 0 not 1). All of your examples are like this therefore this will work for you:
