Default Use of variables in CR report

New user! How do I reference a variable on a CR report. The variable is not bound to a datasource field.
Very simply stated, I want to print multiple copies of the same report. The only difference is a variable that starts at lets say, 1234 and increments +1 for each copy.

Thanks for your replies.
