Formula to convert date format

Hi Guys,
        Probably an easy one for you.
        Running v8.5.
        I need to create a formula in a subreport that will convert a date/time field to a date field which is just month and year. I will then use this field as a subreport link to my main report which will also use the formula.
        If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
