Default how do you configure jdbc connection

Dear members of the crystal reports forum,

I sincerely require your help. I have setup my jdbc connection on my local host pc which works fine because I can retreive the results from an sql database and crystal report shows no error. But when I change the jdbc "localhost" (ie servername and port) string to another ip address from crystal report jdbc connection, the crystal report server fails to retreive any results from the same database. I am stressed. Can anyone please help me? I am in desperate need of advice.
