Default Transferring CR9 reports from vb.NET to CR8

Hello,
I have a application developed in vb.NET, with CR9 embedded in it (by default). My issue is that the CR9 since it supports unicode, does not work on WindowsME/98 systems. It gives an error "Unicode Wrapper Not Found". In order to solve this either we need CR9 or some workaround. So, I am trying to port my CR9 designed reports to CR8 and then install the application on WindowsME/98.
Can u plz guide me in doing the same, i.e. Can u guide me telling how to replace the CR9 references with CR8 and hence overcome the "UNICODE" issue.
Moreover what issues to take into consideration when transferring CR9 reports to CR8?
Regards
Jeev
