Default unable to pass parameters to crystal report

dear all,
i've a little prob...
i've connected to a database and the data is coming on report viewer easily. now i want to pass a parameter so that the data respond ot it. and display according to my parameter in report viewer..

ex:- pubs -> publishers Table

i want to pass pub_id as parameter...

dear could u plz tell me the details abt ur repots...
just let me know on what platform u r working,,, dotnet or vb or etc
and tell me the database name
