Please Tell me the Solution for Sure

in Database i had two fields with character data type and

when i give the below code in formula editor variable

if {PA_ATTENDENCE_H.OUT_HOURS} > {PA_SHIFT_NEW.OUTIME} then

time( datetime({PA_ATTENDENCE_H.OUT_HOURS}) - datetime({PA_SHIFT_NEW.OUTIME}) )

its working properly

but when i m adding + sign i.e i want to add the same thing its giving error like
"A Number is required here"


Hope u got my problem

y is it so
