Default Disappearing code file!?

I recently began using Crystal Reports within Visual Studio.NET. When recompiling while working on my second report, I was startled to realize that the code file (.vb) had been removed. I recreated the file (New Item -- Crystal Report -- Blank report), added a few items, recompiled, and -- again the code file disappeared. This is not the case with my first report. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I can give more information, but at this point have no idea what might be causing this.
