Since you're using the negative margin hack, you need to remove the display: inline; hack, the two are conflicting.

FYI: you don't have to add a unit of measurement to zero lengths; margin: 0 0 -2px 0; is fine.

I never really had any complaints about internet explorer.
But now catching up with web standards, i really begin to dislike the way Microsoft does this.
