Default Problem with labels and entry fields on same line

I've tried entering the code for example5-2.html from your book. However, it doesn't work as depicted in the book. I've triple checked to make sure that I'm entering the code correctly. The way it appears for me, the input fields appear below the labels, instead of to the right of them.

Is there some trick to using a label and a input tag together to get them to appear side by side?

Barry

I need more information. What browser are you using to test the example?

I guess it's IE 6 SP2? It's a windows XP machine uptodated with all patches.

The examples of Chapter 5 require the Mozilla Suite or Mozilla Firefox web browsers, you can obtain either of these from http://www.mozilla.org . The book has the Mozilla suite depicted, but Firefox works fine. In the Chapter 5 exercises at the end of the chapter you'll rewrite the examples so that they work in IE 6.

IE 6 does not support many of the advanced selectors used in that chapter (nor many other advanced CSS features). Although the latest beta of IE7 does support more. Regardless, you'll need several browsers to get through the book. Whichever one is shown in the screen shot pictured in the book is the best to go with for that particular example.

HTH!

Rich
