Default Tables or divs

hey i just borrowed a book "professional CSS" book from library it is really nice i am having question that while making websites i should use Tables or divs some people say that tables were used in older days so dont use them use divs so please help me which are best...... sorry for my bad english:)

Tables are used for tabular data, spread sheets, some statistic perhaps...
Use divs.

I have nothing to say.
