Default In IE6 How do you get Whitespace???

I am a brand new XHTML and CSS programmer and have created a family web site www.davidpmanning.com. I viewed my site for the first time in another state and there were CSS problems. It appears that the web host was using IE6 and it did not recognize white-space:pre. So that all my names ran together and my list of family names that were stacked one above the other ran horizontialy and wraped around the end of each line.

Can anyone help???
