Background image in IE7

I might have missed this posting but, I'm sure this question has come up. Here's my situation. The background image on my site looks good in most browsers ( ie., safari, firefox, opera, camino, and flock) but, when I open it in IE 7 it looks darker and rough. I've placed the image as a jpeg and png and they both look rough. Everything else works fine, text, links, colors. Any thoughts?
