I have a template made up of layers (I gave up using tables, they resize on their own and make me crazy). In one of them I have a Dreamweaver (not a Fireworks) navbar.

For some of the individual html pages derived from that template I want to change the text and the links of the navigation bar, but DW prevents me to do so.... How can I achieve that?

You can turn specific regions of a template into editable regions. In your template, select the text you want to change in the other pages and press Ctrl+Alt+V. This pops up a dialog where you can choose a name for the region.
New pages will take the original content as the default, but because the region is now editable, you can change the content if you want.
