In that case, only update the counter when the software is downloaded....

If you want to block the file from being downloaded directly, check out this Faq:

The section Added Benefits of Using a Stream Object explains how you can protect the file...

Cheers,

Imar

Thanks for your quick response :)

By saying this you mean the counter will be updated everytime the people click on "Download" button ?? Or after they've completely downloaded the software ?
If this the case, how could I updated this counter. Thank you

The former. Here's the pseudo code:

Check User Rights
Update Hitcounter
Redirect to downloadable file.

I don't think there's a way to directly perform an action *after* a file has been downloaded.....

Hi Imar,

I've successfully used application object in .asa file to create a counter to count the number of people who download the software from my page. This application object stored information on the server.
But this counter does not keep counting(adding up the total of people)the total of people. It goes back to zero and start to count all over again on the next day I hit the page.

Cound you please show me how to make this counter keep counting ??? not to reset to zero again on the next day. Thanks so much
