Default Template Update ??? Maybe Maybe not

Hi Al

I am having difficulty getting the Template to update. I only have one template. I make an alteration in the template. Hit save. The dialog comes up. Use this to update these files. The files I want to update are shown. I click update. I next get
Update pages files examined 11
files up dates 0.
files which could not be updates 0.

I click on library to run it again. No change in the files when I open them. I have tried putting the entire site up. Opening the file in C under the Dreamweaver files panel going to the file and f5 to refresh. Still not change. Yet I had been making alterations and seeing them in the “children”

What Have I done???

What kind of changes did you make to the template?

Are you sure you attached the files correctly?

What happens when you create a new test template, base a page on it and then try to update that page? Does that work?

I have seen this behavior in the past too. Usually, I made another change to the template and updated them again to make it work. You can also try Modify | Templates | Update Pages to update pages based on your templates.

Hi Imar
Thanks for the reply.

My missunderstanding came to me overnight.
Make a template as directed.
As default there are entries in the editable regions. Page Tetel ot whatever.
I changed thesse as a means of altering the font size to see ehich one I wanted and I was upset that it would appear in the dependants of the template.

Then I realised that of course these changes MUST not alter the editable regions. If they did they would not be editable regions exclusive the the children.

I do hope I have not wracked anyone's brain trying to solve my problem.

Thanks Imar again. Hopefully there will not be too many like this.

All the best

Jacky
