I have been creating web pages in html for quite some time now. But my next project I have lined up exceeds the limitations of html so I decided to delve into ASP.
So 1st things 1st I installed IIS from Windows XP Pro CD so i can test my pages. however about 3 quarters into the install I recieve this error:
Esception calling handler routine for iis.
Handler address is 0x773692a3
Function = 0xa
Param1 = 0x0 Param 2 = 0x0
Exception Type = 0xc000005 Adr = 0x77c43869
The installation still completed and said it was sucessful but there was no Internet Infomation Services icon in the Administrative tools
The only thing I could think to do was to run the installation under safe mode and this worked without the error
However when I run IIS and expand my computer in the file tree there is nothing inside. no default website or smtp. Also strangely enough it says im running version 5.0 but XP should have version 5.1
Any ideas whats going on? Any help wqould be appreciated
thanks Imar i looked it over but i think its unrelated. it installs fine under safe mode so if there was an issue with a missing file i dont think it would work there either. thanks for your help though
