Hi

I have 2 columns. 1 column contains figures and the next column contains either the letters "CR" or "DR" (for creit or debit). I am trying to loop around the cr/dr column find any cell with DR and multiply the column next to it by -1 (or put minus sign in). Looping around the cr-dr col is fine but when you locate DR, how do you tell access to loop around the next col until its at the cell directly next to DR?

Hi Tony--

  You want to use the offset function:

For Each cell In myRange
  If cell.Value = "d" Then
    cell.Offset(0, -1).Value = cell.Offset(0, -1).Value * -1
  End If
Next

The offset of (0, -1) means that the cell with the value is in the same row (row offset = 0) 1 column to the left (col offset = -1) of the cell with the identifier

  Offsets are a powerful tool useful in many situations
