Default Excel in win 2000 to excel winxp (excel 2002)

I have an application that was compiled with excel 2000 and win 2000. The user has win xp and excel 2002. When I try to use the app on the xp machine it tells me that it can't find the project or library. It does not tell me specifically what it can't find.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

If you check the references, it should - hopefully - have the word 'missing' by the offending library. In theory, though, if it was compiled on 2000, the Office stuff should be OK. Take a look at things like MDAC components (ADO, RDO) and any third party libraries you've used.

I am new to all this. How do you check the references?

Thanks

Open the excel workbook, open the VBA editor, then go Tools|References. You'll see a long list of modules that the OS knows about and can be used in a VBA app. The first two will be 'Visual Basic for Applications' and 'Microsoft Excel x.0 Object Library' (x = 9 or 10 depending on which version you're in) and will be ticked. Then there will be some others also ticked, one of which should also have the word 'MISSING' in front of it when you open the XP version. This will be the one causing the problems.
