What would the formula "=+D4" do in a cell?

I ran across this on an existing spreadsheet. D4 is numeric, and holds a number representing a year. The cell with =+D4 is a date.

Hi,

As far as i'm aware when used in this way the "+" is redundant and would have no effect. This would also be true if you typed it as follows "=Sum(d4)"

Hi,

As my knowledge, the cell holding the data (which locatated at cell D4).
Well, ms excel storing the date in the form of number. (eg 1 is equal to 01 Jan 1900, 2 is represent of 02 Jan 1900).
