Default link sheets in 2 separate excel instances

It seems as though I am asking the impossible - but just in case - here's my problem:

I have 2 spreadsheets, each exists in a separate instance of Excel (to accommodate exchange of data via OLE interface), neither are saved.

However, they both have dynamic data in them.
I would like to compare the data from both spreadsheets in 1 single spreadsheet. Can I link one to the other, if so how?

Cheers
Tim
