A few years back I had seen a code which allowed the user to do normal working in a sheet while a particular cell, e.g. A1 was updating the value because of some loop running in the background.

The counter used to stop at the given setting but the user was not restricted to work in Excel until that loop ends.

I am not sure about Do Events, but any help would be appreciated.
