| Where are the code downloads for Wrox books? |
Every Wrox book has a code download link on the book's page at www.wrox.com.
You can also find a complete list of books and code downloads at http://www.wrox.com/go/downloads |
| Why can't I find my Wrox book on your list of downloadable code? |
| You may have an old Wrox book that was not purchased by Wiley Publishing. Wiley Publishing owns the rights only to the code belonging to the books that Wiley purchased when Wiley acquired Wrox in April 2003, as well as to new books that Wiley has published and will publish. (See the All Books page for a complete list of Wrox books owned and published by Wiley Publishing.) Wrox.com cannot provide the code for the Wrox books that it doesn't own.
Another publisher now owns some older books published by Wrox prior to April 2003; please contact the other publisher for information about obtaining code downloads and support for any former Wrox book that does not appear on this site. |
| Do I need to register before I download code? |
| The short answer is no. You paid for the book, so you are entitled to get the code that goes with it. AND, we want you to have the chance to look at the code before you buy the book if you haven't purchased it yet. |
| What are the terms and conditions for using the code? |
Many Wrox readers ask us "Can I use code from Wrox books in my applications?" Here's our answer: Yes, you may use code from any Wrox book published by Wiley Publishing Inc. in your application, software, or service under the following conditions and exceptions as noted:
- Wrox Press, the authors, and distributors disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including without limitation any warranties regarding fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and noninfringement. The entire risk as to the results or performance of the code is assumed by you. In no event shall Wrox Press, the authors, or distributors be held responsible for any loss, damage, or other claim caused by using the executable code or other files.
- If you use Wrox code in your application, you must acknowledge the author, title, and Wrox in your application, software, or service's documentation and program code itself as follows:
- "Portions of this code from Book Title, ISBN: ISBN, copyright Wiley Publishing Inc: year, by author, published under the Wrox imprint are used by permission of John Wiley & Sons, Inc. All rights reserved. This book and the Wrox code are available for purchase or download at www.wrox.com"
- You can find the correct ISBN and copyright year to fill in on the book's copyright page
- Your application, software, or service can be commercial or non-commercial, that does not affect your use of the code or need to acknowledge us
- Notwithstanding the foregoing, any specific code in a Wrox book that has a less restrictive license (GNU, Creative Commons, or other examples) or a more restrictive license (copyright owned by the author or another company other than John Wiley & Sons, Inc.) is subject to the terms of that license or copyright and should only be used according to those specific terms. You should check the copyright page or look for a GNU, Creative Commons, or other license printed in the book to know if other copyright or licenses apply.
- You may not use Wrox code in any book, magazine article, web site article, blog post, or other publication without our express permission except as such use falls under "fair use"
- Please do not ask us if your use would fall under "fair use." We can't answer that question for you.
- You may not redistribute our code by itself or in a collection with other code apart from your application, software, or service.

| And finally, how do I get the code? |
Just find the title of your book on the Browse Books for Code Downloads page. You can also download code from the All Books page, from any of the Topic pages on which your book appears, or directly from the book's information page.
If your book has downloadable code, you will see options to download it via HTTP or FTP. For additional help with downloading code, visit the Downloading Source Code Support page. |
| Why hasn't the author or editor answered my question? |
We do our best to work with authors who like answering every question possible about their books but participation in the forums is voluntary. Our hope is that if the author isn't answering questions, perhaps another user will know the answer and help. |
| I found an error in the book and posted it here, why isn't in in the book errata page? |
Before we post errata to each book's errata page, we wait for the author to verify that your comment indeed represents an errata and provide the correction the way the author would like it explained in the errata and fixed if the book is reprinted. |
