Default Invoking E-mail Client When Button Is Clicked

Hi all,

I was wondering: How can I program a button so that when it's clicked, the website user can send me an e-mail? Since I'm thinking about designing a Flash website, I definitely want the user to have a way to contact me.

Well, you could have a Flash form (or whatever it is, I have no clue how to use inputs on Flash) pass a value to a PHP or ASP page which mails you.

-OR-, if you wanted to open the default e-mail client, just use the 'web location' thing and set the web location to 'mailto:[email protected]'

Yes, I would like the button to open the default mail client when it's clicked. Trouble is, I need some guidance on how to do it with ActionScript cuz I don't otherwise know how

Are you using Flash MX 2004?

The behavior panel is in the bottom right, usually. Click on Add Behavior -> Web -> Go to Web Page on that panel. Set the URL to "mailto:[email protected]" and your good.
