Default Picture change

Hi all,

I'm a flash nooby and would like to know how to do a scrolling picture change like this site has. http://windowsmedia.com/MediaGuide/Home
I'm sure it's a masking technique. Can anyone point me to a tutorial that would explain this?
I would also like to know of some good sites that teaches flash and maybe any good books for noobies that anyone could recommend for Flash MX(not 04). Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Cheers

Derek

I don't know how to do this with Flash, but that site does not use Flash. It uses filters.

Derek,

Regarding your question on learning Flash, you may want to check out http://www.flashkit.com. They've got lots of tutorials on pretty much everything you can think of that can be done in Flash.

I have come up with something that will give you an idea how it could be done. you can see it at http://www.eclecticpixel.com/scripts/transition.html and download the .fla at http://www.eclecticpixel.com/scripts . Mine is not pretty but it's the idea that counts, where I have the ugly green you would probably extend your actual image and blur the left edge. hope this helps.

Oh as far as books I HIGHLY recommend Macromedia series Training From The Source, the Flash MX 2004 actionscript is excellent for laying a good foundation, easy to read and understand.
