Default Urgent Question

Hi all,

Does anybody know if Flash will import MIDI files? I have a feeling that it won't so I would have to work around this by converting my MIDI files to WAV format.

Thanks in advance,

According to the Flash MX manual, MIDI sound formats are not supported. I suggest converting the MIDIs to WAVs or MP3s with a freeware/shareware product.

Right,

What I could also do is put the MIDI files on another page and have that page open as a pop-up. I thought twice about this because I want to keep the size of my Flash site down as much as possible. That means I'd have to do some creative thinking.

Gosh, I don't know how long it would take to load ... depends on how many sounds there are, I suppose. Besides, sound files are not web pages, and opening them in pop-ups will just ask the client if they want to download. :(

If you were talking about embedding them on the pop-up, I'm not sure that wouldn't take longer to load than importing with the Flash movie.

I'd run some tests and see exactly how long the different techniques take, if I were you.

Since it'd be on my computer while I was developing it, I don't think it'd take long at all.
