Default Rollout triggered when I rollOver button....

OK, right now, I will say that this is a silly question about a silly problem.

I am building a Flash menu that fades in when a movie clip is hovered over. When the user rolls the mouse out of the menu, it disappears (works). Here's how I made it: I have an on(rollOut) method in an invisible movie clip, which is in front of the shape that fades in. The buttons are in front of that. When I move my cursor over a button, it triggers the on(rollOut) method in the invisible layer, causing menu and buttons to fade away (so close, yet so far).

How can I keep the on(rollOut) from triggering when I rollOver the buttons, but it still fire when I roll out of the menu? I have tried putting the invisible layer in front of the buttons, but then the buttons are out of reach.

Thanks in advanced,

Snib

Snib,

I don't really know what your problem is without actually seeing the movie. Is there any chance you could maybe e-mail a copy of the FLA file to me? I could maybe get a look at it then and see if there's anything I can do.

Ben,

I will publish both (published) versions for all to see tomorrow. These links are not valid at the time of this post.

http://snibworks.com/frustrating_flash_movie_1.swf - this is the one that disappears when a button is hovered over
http://snibworks.com/frustrating_flash_movie_2.swf - other one

I will also e-mail you (and anyone else that wants it) the exact .fla file as soon as I can (if it's not there by tomorrow evening e-mail me :-))

Sorry for the delay....

Hello all,

The links in my previous post are now valid and functioning.

If anyone would like to see the .fla files, feel free to e-mail me and I will get them to you as soon as possible.

Ben, I have sent you copies of both the .fla files (I remembered! :-) ).

Thanks in advanced to Ben and anyone else that would like to help.

Snib,

I just got a quick look at both of the Flash movies you posted at Snibworks. I'm just making a wild guess here but, what you could do is put the buttons on the shape layer and see if that helps out with your problem.

Again, I've never done anything with this before but I think what I just mentioned above may help.

Let me know if you're still having problems

I finally had a chance to come up with something for this issue, sorry it's so late. You can download it at www.eclecticpixel.com/scripts it's a bit plain and generic but you can get the idea of how you could do this.

Snib, did you solve your problem of the rollout firing? I'm having the same problem with a flash movie I just made.

I made a new Flash movie that doesn't have this type of layout.... however I was offered a couple solutions, such as the one Mike has above.
