Default Motion Tween Problems

Hi all,

I am working on a Skills Demo project for Unit A in my Beginning Flash course. I have to have 3 circles moving across the movie screen and two of them have to change color. I got the motion tween for two of the objects created with few problems. The part that's hanging me up is the 3rd object animation. I've created it like it was specified in my textbook (The Web Collection: Macromedia Flash MX, Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX. I've got the 3rd circle object in a new layer.

Here's what I tried:

1. Selected the 3rd circle for the motion tween.

2. Went to Insert, Create Motion Tween

All I get is a bunch of lines. I was expected there to be an arrow indicating the animation.

What am I doing wrong?

Please help!

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you are trying to do with the 3rd circle, I don't have this book. Are you trying to make the circle turn into an arrow? if so try a Shape Tween instead of the motion tween.

Yoau are getting a bunch of lines in the timeline because:
If you choose Motion Tween, you don't have a symbol made
If you chosse Shape Tween you have a symbol.
Shape tweens does not work with symbols, graphics, ets.
You have to break them apart first (Ctrl+B maybe twice), then shape tween.
If you want to change colour of your symbol then on the last key frame use the tint option.

I got it figured out. The bunch of lines I got after I selected Create Motion Tween was because I did not define an ending keyframe like you're suppoed to do. Then, you can drag the object to it's ending spot
