Default Locking Topics

Mr Minatel , locking a topic (Email Lists) just because you are bored with it isn't a particularly helpful tactic if you want to keep the community happy! You (Wrox/Wiley), having stated your position, do not have to respond to the posts, but we should still be able to bat ideas around within the thread. What is to be gained by locking the topic, when people like me are just going to restart it elsewhere, but now with a slightly less amiable attitude toward your management style?
Actually, all I wanted was to get you to clarify which of Hal's and Jeff's solutions you were going to implement. Specifically, I wanted to know if email reply was one of them.

I appreciate your concern and promise that I and the rest of the gang here won't use this approach often. I locked it not because I was bored, but because the discussion had become less productive as it went on. If locking it will spawn additional more specific threads that help point our way to improvements, then the locking served a good purpose.
I'll ask James and Bruce to drill into more detail on the specific improvements they're working on. I have a few forum names to shorten. :)
