Default ^ function in excel

Can anyone tell me what "^" means when entered in a formula in excel. eg. $a$4^c6

I believe that's Excel's exponent function. So, you're raising the value in A4 by the power of whatever is in C6.

Also, this isn't the best forum for Excel questions. This sort of question should probably go into one of the Excel book forums.
