Default Newsreaders?

Is it possible to use newsreaders with this new forum? With previous version of p2p.wrox.com, this was possible.

While you can read new posts in a mail client using subscriptions, we will not be offering News Reader access to the forums.

Thank you,

The old forums permitted newsreader access? I don't think so...

Hal,

Yeah, they did - we didn't widely advertise it, but I believe it was mentioned in the FAQ somewhere. You could set your newsreader to "mail.p2p.wrox.com" and you could read and post to any open list, as long as the email address you used to post with was a member of that list. It was a feature provided by Lyris ListManager in the version we purchased from them. It was somewhat slow in the latter days of P2P due to the number of postings on some of the lists (beginning_asp had over 10,000 messages, for example) but it was pretty usable on any of the smaller lists.

Wow.. Did it fully thread with multiple levels like a "real" newsgroup?
