Default Members list

Hi,

Not sure if http://p2p.wrox.com/members.asp was changed recently. I was seeing a different version of it until sometime back. Was that because of performance changed to display members list in Alphabetical order? Just curious to know... Or let me know of the older version of that page is moved somewhere. No hurry, please take you sweet time...

Thanks,

Hi Vijay. I'm not aware of any change that we intended to make but I'm seeing the change in behavior today too. It's still possible to do the all members, sort by most posts, order that is normally the default so if you need it sorted that way you still can. I'll ask around though to see if there was a change made.

Thanks for the update on that, Jim. Yes, we can still sort it out by Number of posts. But the highest number of post that I could see right now is just 431, I remember Imar having posted something more than 4 or 5 thousand... I doubt something is wrong with data it shows up on this page. Just FYI...

Cheers

BTW, I checked with Bruce and he confirmed, yes, he'd changed the default behavior to improve server performance. For those of us who need to sort all and sort differently, the couple of extra clicks are worth the effort for the improvement performance all the other users should see when coming to the page.

I thought it could be due to perfomance hits. That page was slow for quite sometime now. As you said it is some worth extra clicks for those who wanted to see it in the way they want.

Thanks

More than 60,000 members now! Wow! I guess the performance on that page was a victim of the success of the community. :)

Hopefully, it also limits the number of blanket e-mails I receive through my profile. Apparently, people just e-mail the person at the top of the list.

I feel sorry for user A now... ;)
