Default Bug in the forum?

Hello everyone,

Since today, it seems that the forum no longer hooks up the messages to my user name in certain locations of the forum.

It does show my user name in newly posted messages, but my "Last Post" and post count on the members list is no longer updated. It also looks like some posts are missing in the "Find all non-archived posts by UserName" feature.

Does it take some time to update this data, or is this a bug??

AFAIK, the only thing I changed is that I included my Profile Signature by default......

Cheers,

Imar

Imar, I have not noticed the same thing- I'll have to try it out and see if I can reproduce it.

Of course I think the guys are out till monday so they can't look at it until then.

Imar:

I ran into a similar problem where it seemed the site had me stuck at 46 posts for a day, but I thought it was just me. I will look into this first thing on Monday and let you know what I find.

Thanks,

Ok- here's a weird thing- I increment here in this forum- but not in others I post in...
I am a moderator here and I am not on the other forum- I wonder if somehow the incrementing code got trapped in the code to check for moderator rights?

Yeah, it's really weird.

According to the members list, I posted my last message on the 20th, while you can see in Active Topics or in the individual forums, that I posted yesterday and today as well.

Any news on the bug hunt?

Imar

Okay.

I've just finished a major overhaul to the Forum statistics routines. Basically I found a number of holes and lots of replicated code that would not reliably keep the statistics updated. The previous code was trying to do incremental updates to counts by adding 1 if you post; subtracting one if you delete your post; etc.

The problem with this is that once it gets out of sync, incremental updates will never get it back in sync.

The new routines recalculate the statistics when any changes are made to forums, topic or replies.

This should keep everything in sync and make the post counts, active topics, last post info, etc. up to date and always accurate.

The current statistics have been rebuild for all users, topics and forums and now accurately represent the site's activity.
