Cant start the debugger vb.net local or remote?

Getting the debugger to work for my vb.net application seems like a black-art... I cant get local debugging on my XP Pro machine or remote debugging on my win 2003 server to work.

Can someone give me instructions that are better than the standard information I get from the help file.... Or simply point me to an FAQ or web-resource that has consise instructions on how I can get the debugger to work for me.

For now I am doing the CTRL-F5 thing which I suspect many people do however my applications are getting sufficently complex that I would love to have the debugger working.
