Hi,

I have developed an windows application for a market. It was tested and the result is bugs free. I have installed the application on the customer PC. Customer used it for one week and maintained 100 records in his database pertaining to his market. Now he comes to me after one week and ask for a change in the application.(ex:- adding one more text box control). Yes, i have developed the application with appropriate changes requested by the customer.
Now how shud I install the appliction on the customer side with out effecting his database or records.
How can i do it?

try this -

if that extra field/textbox is not linked to database and is just being used to show some information ie calculations etc, u just can replace the exe. if there ur updation effected the db or u've made modifications in ur db then u need to change the db at the client side too. u can write a script or create a patch application that modify the db and put the appropriate data in that using existing data

all the best
