Default The 7 application blocks

I need some help regarding 1 of the 7 application block supplied by patterns & practises called the "Data Access Application Block".

The problem is that I'm developing a large enterprise application for a company and heard that the DAB might shorten my current database connectivity and I cannot find any related information about this topic other than that supplied by Microsoft and DevX.

If anybody knows of a good place to start off with please let me know!

Regards

EricJ
