Default Office Documents

Is there anyway to view Microsoft Office Documents like Word or Excel files in a browser window? I don't want it to launch Word or Excel, but open the document in the browser. Is there viewing software?

Whether a file opens in a separate application or as part of the browser is at the user's discretion, the app is always started, it's just whetehr or not it integrates with the browser. It is configured by going into file explorer and tools| folder options|file types.
Even if the Word viewer was installed I think it's the same choice.

There are Word and Powerpoint viewers available on Microsoft site.

I believe the default behavior of this is for the app to load into the browser.... at least that's what it does with mine, and I can't recall changing it.

Thank you for your responses. Follow up query: Is it possible to have a thumbnail of the first page of the file next to, or as the link to the file. It must be an image of the current file, not one I make before hand. Answers involving Javascript, VBScript, or ASP are all acceptable.

I think you'd have to capture a screenshot of a particular program and put that thumbnail next to the file name.

Of course, there is a way to do this in ASP but I can't help ya with that. Best to ask in the ASP forum.
