Default Color distortion

Hello,

I'm putting together a new design that includes a few Flash movies and background images.

The Flash movies, background images and background colors flow smoothly in Firefox, but in IE the Flash movies and some of the images seem to be a lighter color (or maybe the rest is a darker color) than the rest of the page, even though in Flash MX and my image editing program the color codes are the same as the background colors in my page.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this??

thanks,

Hey Snib
Are you using photoshop for you image editing? If so do you have your color settings set up for Web Graphic Defaults? Are you editing your images in RGB mode and not CMYK mode?

Peace

I am using Fireworks 2004 for this project.

Quite a bit of what you just said went over my head, but I will experiment with Fireworks' different export settings and color modes and let you know if I find anything.

What really bugs me is that Explorer seems to be incorrectly displaying my non-transparent images, and Firefox seems to be fine. And I thought you could display images the same cross-browser...

Thanks for your help,

Hi Snib,

What type of image are you using? That is, what format are they exported to from Fireworks?

If I am not mistaken, IE has a few flaws in .png support, so you're better off using .gif or .jpeg, depending on the type of image.

Cheers,

Imar

Sorry about that, I was hoping you were using photoshop I could probably help more. I was just double checking what color profiles you were using. Photoshop actually created a profile to emmulate PC monitors so you can better color correct your images for PC monitors. Unfortunately I do not know Fireworks, so I probably would not be much help.

Imar,

I took your idea and started exporting to GIF format. The problem is gone now.

If only Microsoft would fix their browser...

Thanks,
