Default Weird Image Problem when using IIS

Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced the following problem and know why it occurs.

I have an HTML Page that will display correctly when previewed in a browser.

When I view the page using IIS to display the page 4 of 13 thumbnail images don't appear. There is no reference to the image at all in the the source code when your right click on the page and select view source code and hence you do not get the little square with the red cross in it.

I have been able to get them to appear by removing the width and height attributes in the image tag. The weird thing is that other images will appear when using the width and height attributes.

I have checked the code is all correct with opening and closing tags and correct use of quote marks.

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone.

Could you show a sample page? :)

Meanwhile, do you know if this happens to others than you? Since you say it works if you remove size attributes, I have a hunch that you run some kind of ad removing software, possibly baked into your firewall. They like to remove images with common banner sizes.

Good call... I disabled the security on Norton Internet Security and the page loaded fine.

You can view the page at www.mobilerealestate.co.nz
I don't think I have ever had a problem with the page loading from the ISP only from my IIS (I am using IIS as I convert the page to ASP.NET for testing)

One of the images that will not load is the house for sale at $349,000. Yet the one for the property at $375,000 works fine.

It raises my next question. Norton Internet Security normally works all of the time. Why does it affect the page using IIS and not the Internet. I have reviewed the Security settings but can't find anything obvious?

IIS is running on your own machine? Afraid I have no idea how Norton works. Is it possible that you have set up rules to *not* filter images on your own domain?

Oh, forgot to say that I see your images just fine. I filter nothing and see everything. :D

Thanks for your help. It was driving me nuts not knowing why it was happening.

I am trawling through the Norton help file and settings for some answers.

Regards
sbo

Well I am still not entirely sure of the answer.

The reason the images didn't show is due to the ad blocking feature. Nortons use two methods to determine ads. The first based on urls and text of image file names. The second is based on common ad sizes i.e. width and height of images.

All of the images I had problems with were 120*90. I slightly changed the image size of the problem images and they appeared fine on my intranet site.

I have not been able to determine why they showed up on the Internet and not my Intranet. I haven't found any settings to treat the Intranet differently.

I can load my intranet as a trusted site and everything works fine then as well.

Anyway thats where I am up to.

Cheers
sbo
