Default Call or linking to external .jar file

I am having trouble "linking to or calling" to the applet as an external file.
i.e <applet src= "name.jar" height="32" width="800" </applet>

There are at least 700 menu items in this navigation applet. And the applet is on every page of my site(800+ pages). It was suggested that I have just 1 file "name.jar" and simply add some code at the top of each page that will call to that file("name.jar")

Am I explaining it right?

But no matter what I try I am unable to get it to work. Am I missing something simple?
