I'm having to build a program and I'm having a problem with the scanner. I'm using Eclipse by the way. this is what I have to build:

"Write an application that asks user to enter a five digit number as input, then it separates the number into its individual digits and prints the digits separated from one another by a tab space. Assume that the user enters the correct number of digits.

For example, if the user types in the number 12345, the program should print
“1 2 3 4 5.”

I've built the program but Eclipse is telling me 'the Scanner cannot be resolved to a type." I dont know what this means so please help! Also, I can't seem to figure out how to seperate it by a tab. I can seperate by spaces. Any help would be appreciated.

include some code portion to better understand ur pblm.
however u can use '\t' to include tab space
something like,
System.out.println(var +"\t");
in a for loop, where 'var' as a seprated digit

Use
System.out.print(first + "\t" +second+ "\t" + third + "\t" +fourth + "\t" +fifth);

System.out.println() is also there.
see the diff by trying it.

instead of "\t" u can also use " " required spaces between double quotes.

More on string concatenation,

Strings are more commonly concatenated with the + operator, as in

    "Hello," + " world" + "!"

which results in

    "Hello, world!"

The + operator is widely used in print statements. For example:

    String string1 = "saw I was ";
    System.out.println("Dot " + string1 + "Tod");

which prints

    Dot saw I was Tod
