Smile Personal DBMS & Accounting in Java

I am a 70 years old Senior Consultant Neuro(Brain(y!))surgeon, treating injured and sick human brains, but a total noobie to Java, trying to migrate from Visual Foxpro 9 to Java for my personal & micro(??NANO)business data management.

I have been using Foxpro for DOS in low level 8 bit / 16 bit PCs 8086 upto P4 with MS DOS 6.22 as OS and MS QBasic v 1.1 as front-end - very very friendly to non-computer-savvy low level users (data entry operators) for over two decades for my personal & micro(??NANO)business data management.

Given the possibility that my old H/W may fail anytime and may not be replaceable and the fast change in Hardware and OS Scenarios - 32 bit / 64 bit etc., I wanted to migrate to the newer Windows 7 32 & 64 bit working on my i7 Dell Alienware Aurora ALX and Dell Inspiron 2020.

I have managed to migrate to VFP 9 so far, though a bit convoluted and unfriendly to non-computer-savvy low level users (data entry operators)!

But I wish to migrate to Java too given that it is currently the BEST IN THE WORLD - and said to be self-maintaining and very scalable too.

All I want to do is creation of simple single-user (non-sharing / non-web-based) free-standing flat file (non-relational) data tables, create a database including them all, query them and create printable reports to hand over the same to Personal and Business Accounting Software and, if possible, do the
Accounting also in Java - may be a tall order for a noobie like me but said to be easily manageable by some local Java users.

I need guidance in simple terms / steps as for a noobie / dummy / idiot!

Googolplex TIA!
