Default Error establishing socket for SQL Connection.

Hi there,

I already had SQL 2000 installed in the machine - a localhost, set it up using a mix authentication, installed my database and got the drivers installed as well as the service started.

However, when I tried connecting to the database using a JDBC connection with a program like DBVisualizer, an error message occurs saying that the program encountered a java.sql.exception and the error described as 'error establishing connection.'

After checking, I found out that one of the possible causes is that the program could not detect port 1433. I've double checked using 'netstat' or 'telnet' command and there was no port 1433.

I just simply could not establish a JDBC connection. Please help.

Keep doing more...:)
