i never implemented it, but i can help you in the context that it is called the process of serielization in java, which is writing an object to the file. you may refer to books for details. in Ivor Horton's Beginning Java 2, i have seen an example of drawing application in which, author has used serielization perhaps.

Look into the java ImageIO api.... you can obtain a writer object for jpeg, png, gif, etc.

After obtaining the writer, you can use it to write your generated image to a file.
