Default 'getElementById()'

We can access DOM elements e.g., <DIV> or <TD> using 'getElementById'
Opera 5, 6 and Netscape 6 can't do this.
What is the javascript modification needed for these browsers ?

this does not works with Opera 5, 6

Regards,
Rich
