Default eval - and other resource hogs

I read a post from joefawcett the other week about the JavaScript function eval being a resource hog due to the fact that it starts up the complier.

Are there any other built in functions that hogs resources in a similar way? I am trying to weed all this type of code out my JS coding.

TIA.

:-)
