Hello!

What tool do you recommend for obfuscation of javascript (variable
renaming, comments removal)?
I found several javascript obfuscation tools in search engines.
For me, javascript obfuscator by stunnix looks rather good. I didn't try it though. Any ideas? What javascript obfuscator do you recommend?

I recommend not using one, other than to maybe reduce download size. If someone wants to read the code they can do, it's only a fairly mild deterrent. If it's really confidential information it shouldn't be in JavaScript. If you're just trying to stop others learning from your work then you can't really expect help on a forum with that, that would be having it both ways.

I would point mostly to the pointlessness of it. Anyone who you would really care about hiding your JavaScript from, is going to be saavy enough to do a couple of Google searches and undo your obfuscation. And with all the javascript libraries out there on the Wrox CDs, script.aculo.us, and elsewhere, who do you think is seriously going to hit your site and actually bother to download your javascripts anyway? It's like putting a dead bolt on your bathroom door. Yes it will keep people from it, but is it really worth the trouble?
