I used to do a drop-down menu like this, but don't even know where I put the code now. I've been using CSS :hover for this even though it's a minor violation of separation of concerns. The usability advantages are worth it; you style your menus in CSS and want the functionality to operate as part of the style. Using CSS to do this ensures that either the styling and functionality are BOTH available or NEITHER are; while Javascript can give you nasty in between cases where you get one or the other and things break. If you're interested Google :hover or ask about it on the CSS board. At the very least I'm over there and can pull out my current stylesheet to see how that works.
